Working with I-Pension is kind of like going to the doctor -- without the needles and outdated waiting room magazines. It involves four steps:
The first step in the investment management process is "fact finding." The key component is the "Investor Profile," a questionnaire that helps us better understand your current financial situation, your goals, and your feelings about risk and reward. Click here for a sample.
At this point, you will be assigned to a dedicated Investment Advisor who will work with you the rest of the way. Your Investor Profile will be "scored" and evaluated alongside any other qualitative information you've provided. The result will be an assessment of your current financial portfolio and a recommended plan on how to proceed. This process will involve a dialogue to ensure that you understand and agree with our recommendations.
We will create an individualized "Investment Policy Statement" (IPS) that summarizes what we learned and agreed upon during the Exam and Diagnosis stages. You will be asked to sign and return this document. From this point on, your Investment Advisor will take over the reins, reallocate your current holdings, and rebalance as-needed using our rules-based rebalancing system.
One of the key advantages of I-Pension is that you have a dedicated Investment Advisor who continually monitors your portfolio and checks in with you periodically to provide updates. In addition, we will ask you to complete another Investor Profile every year or so to ensure that our investment approach synchs with your current needs.
One of the things we stress with all our clients is that, at the end of the day, "it's your money." We are here to guide you, not to dictate. That means our clients can have as much, or as little, control over their account as they want. Some clients are content to hear from us quarterly, others like to check in every few weeks.
Whatever approach you prefer, your I-Pension advisor will be there to serve your needs and help you build a nest egg and turn it into a lifetime income stream.
