Individual Investment Accounts
Accounts outside of employer-sponsored plans will be charged on a sliding scale based on total account assets. Our fees are stated as an annual expense but are charged quarterly in arrears:
Accounts under $300,000 = 1.0% annual fee
Accounts $300,000 to $500,000 = 0.9%
Accounts over $500,000 = 0.8%
Accounts over $1,000,000 have variable fees depending on the strategy employed.
As an example, a $100,000 account would be charged $1,000 annually. The prorated fee of $250 would be charged quarterly.
Any brokerage commissions and service fees for trades made in your account will also be deducted from your account as they are incurred. Investment accounts are serviced by Charles Schwab. These expenses are charged by Schwab directly to your account; I-Pension does not mark-up or benefit from these charges in any way. Because I-Pension's methodology does not include frequent trading, these transaction fees are estimated to be minimal.
It's also important to note that I-Pension does not sell commission-based products or earn 12b-1 trail commissions.
401(k) Participants
For company-sponsored 401(k), 403(b), and 457 retirement plans, we charge a flat fee of $1.00 a day ($365 per year) for accounts over $40,000, and $.50 a day ($182.50 per year) for accounts under $40,000 in assets. This fee is charged at the beginning of each contractual year.
We also offer a discount for managing a second retirement plan for a client's spouse:
- If the spouse's account is $40,000 or more, the annual fee will be $250 for the second account.
- If the spouse's account is less than $40,000, the annual fee will be $150 for the second account.
That's it. There are no set-up charges, administrative fees, or any other expenses. You'll be billed annually on the account anniversary date.
401(k) Plans
Our pricing for 401(k) plans will vary depending on the size of the plan (employees, account value, etc.) and its complexity. In general, our maximum fee is 0.50% and decreases on a sliding scale as plan assets increase. Similar to our approach with individual investors, I-Pension serves in a fiduciary capacity for the plan, we utilize the 7Twelve asset allocation strategy, and focus on low-cost investment options.
